Services

Here is what falls under this silo, and when each service is the right call:

TV Mounting — I mount your TV to the wall on the bracket of your choice. I locate studs, set the height right, and run cables through a surface raceway for a clean look. I do not do in-wall power relocation — that requires a licensed electrician. What to send for a quote: a photo of the wall plus the screen size (diagonal). Most mounts take two to three hours.

Furniture Assembly — IKEA, flat-pack, or anything that arrives in a box with instructions. I read them so you do not have to. What to send: the make and model (e.g. IKEA KALLAX 4×4, or "Billy bookcase, 80cm wide"). Most furniture assembly jobs are done in one visit.

Shelving and Blinds Installation — Floating shelves, closet organizers, curtain rods, and window blinds. Measured and level every time. What to send: a photo of the wall plus what you want to hang. Blind and curtain rod installs are often done in under an hour per window.

Caulking and Weatherstripping — Bathroom caulk, kitchen caulk, door and window weatherstripping. In Winnipeg winters a drafty door or a cracked seal costs you real money in heat. I bring common weatherstripping sizes and cut to fit on site. Best booked in September or October before the cold sets in.

Grab Bars and Home Safety — Grab bars in the shower or by the toilet, mounted into studs or with proper toggle anchors. A job that matters a lot for seniors staying in their home. What to send: a photo of the bathroom with the tile or wall type visible. Mounted into studs these take under an hour per bar.

What is out of scope in this silo: Electrical work of any kind (including ceiling fan installation, light fixture swaps, outlet changes), plumbing, gas appliances. These require a licensed trade in Manitoba. If a job turns out to involve any of those, I will tell you straight.

How Quoting Works

Send me a photo or describe the job — I reply with a quote. No charge for the quote, no obligation to book.

  1. Email a photo of the TV, the shelving space, the window with the blinds, or whatever needs doing.
  2. I reply with a clear price.
  3. I send you available times and you pick one that fits your schedule.

For caulking and weatherstripping, tell me: how many windows, how many door frames, any bathroom caulk work needed?

What to Expect

I work alone. When I show up, I am the one doing the work — not sending a sub-contractor. Jobs in this silo are typically a few hours, sometimes less. I will tell you what I need from you beforehand (move the furniture, have the bracket ready, etc.) so the visit goes smoothly.

If a job turns out to involve electrical work — say, you want in-wall power relocation for the TV — I will let you know that is not something I handle. I can point you to a licensed electrician for that part, and come back to finish the rest.

I don't do **electrical work** — not even light fixtures, outlets, or ceiling fans. I don't do **plumbing** — not even faucets, toilets, or dishwasher hookups. No **gas work**, no **HVAC**, and no **asbestos removal**. In Manitoba, those trades require a licence and there's no exemption for a handyman working on someone else's property. I'm happy to point you to the right licensed trade for any of those jobs. What a handyman can and cannot do in Manitoba →

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most requested handyman service?
In my experience, drywall repair and painting top the list. For the handyman-services silo specifically, TV mounting and furniture assembly are the most common requests, followed by caulking jobs. They are quick wins — an hour or two and the job is done.
What is the best way to find a good handyman?
Look for someone who gives you a written or texted quote before starting, tells you honestly if a job is outside their scope, and does not disappear after the work. I quote from photos so there are no surprises on the day.
Where can I find senior handyman services in Winnipeg?
I install grab bars, fix doors that are hard to open, and handle other home-safety jobs for seniors and their families. If you are not sure whether a job is in scope, just describe it and I will tell you.
How much does it cost to hire a handyman in Winnipeg?
The cost depends on the job type, how long it takes, and any materials needed. TV mounting, furniture assembly, and single-item shelf installs are typically quoted as flat fees based on what is involved. Caulking and weatherstripping are quoted by the number of locations. Send me a photo of the job and I will give you a clear number — no obligation.
