Mattress Disposal — What I Do
Mattress disposal winnipeg is one of those jobs that is annoying to handle on your own. Mattresses are large, awkward, and most people do not have the vehicle to haul a king-size box spring anywhere.
Here is the service:
- I come to your home and carry the mattress out — from the bedroom, down the stairs, and onto the truck
- Mattresses are tarped and secured for transport
- Disposed of through the appropriate channel: recycling, donation if in good condition, or Brady Road commercial waste
I take singles, doubles, queens, and kings, plus box springs. A mattress and box spring set counts as two items for loading purposes.
I do not take mattresses that show signs of active bed bug infestation (soiled and bagged mattresses I can take with a heads-up; unbagged severely infested mattresses require proper pest-control disposal procedures that I am not set up for).
How to Get a Quote
Email me the size (single, double, queen, king) and how many pieces (mattress only, or mattress plus box spring). Let me know what floor it is on — a king mattress down a narrow staircase is harder than one on the main floor.
Quote factors: size, number of items, floor level and staircase access, and condition.

How to Safely Dispose of Your Old Mattress in Winnipeg
You have a few options depending on timeline and condition:
Free options:
- City of Winnipeg bulk waste program: The City offers scheduled bulky item collection. This can take weeks but is free for residents. Check winnipeg.ca for pickup schedules in your neighbourhood.
- 4R Winnipeg Depots: Residential drop-off at 4R Depots is free. The Brady Depot accepts garbage at a tipping fee; Pacific and Panet accept recycling only. For a mattress you can transport yourself, this is a free option.
- Donate: Mattresses in good, clean condition can sometimes be donated to the Salvation Army or Siloam Mission. Call first — they are selective.
Paid removal:
If you need it gone now, do not have a vehicle, or are replacing it and need the old one taken away, that is where I come in. I pick up, haul, and dispose.
Related: furniture and appliance removal if the bed frame and other furniture need to go at the same time.

Recycling Drop-Off in Winnipeg
For items that can be recycled, Winnipeg has several 4R Depots. Residential drop-off is free at most depots for eligible materials. Mattresses do not go to standard recycling — they are bulky waste. The Brady Depot is the main drop-off for garbage that does not fit in your regular bin; it charges a tipping fee for residents.
If you have a mix of recyclables and junk to deal with, a cleanout service often makes more sense than multiple trips. See garage and basement cleanout if there is more than a mattress to move.

What About the Bed Frame and Box Spring?
Bed frames and box springs come out at the same time for most mattress removals. A box spring counts as a separate item for loading — it is bulky even if light.
Bed frames: Metal frames fold or disassemble easily and haul out fast. Wood platform beds and sleigh beds are bulkier and may need some disassembly before they fit through doorways. Let me know the type when you book.
Pillows and bedding: These are not part of a mattress removal unless you specifically ask. If there is a large quantity of bedding to dispose of, a garage cleanout booking covers a broader scope.
Everything leaves in one trip where possible. If the bedroom is upstairs, I factor staircase access into the quote.

I don't do **electrical work** — not even light fixtures, outlets, or ceiling fans. I don't do **plumbing** — not even faucets, toilets, or dishwasher hookups. No **gas work**, no **HVAC**, and no **asbestos removal**. In Manitoba, those trades require a licence and there's no exemption for a handyman working on someone else's property. I'm happy to point you to the right licensed trade for any of those jobs. What a handyman can and cannot do in Manitoba →
