Furniture and Appliance Removal — What I Take
Furniture removal winnipeg calls come from people who need one piece gone or an entire room cleared. Here is what the service covers:
Furniture: Couches, loveseats, sectionals, mattresses (see also mattress disposal), beds, dressers, dining tables, desks, bookshelves, entertainment units, patio furniture.
Appliances: Washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, microwaves.
What I do NOT take without a precondition:
Refrigerators, freezers, window air conditioners, and any equipment with a refrigerant circuit must have the refrigerant professionally recovered before disposal. Manitoba Regulation 103/94 (Ozone Depleting Substances) requires that refrigerant be recovered by a trained service technician before the appliance is scrapped. I do not do refrigerant recovery — you arrange that first, or I can refer you to a technician who does. Once it is confirmed recovered, I will haul the empty unit.
I also do not take hazardous waste (paints, solvents, chemicals), asbestos-containing material, or items that would exceed what my truck and trailer can safely carry (hot tubs, full pianos).
How to Get a Quote
Email me photos of the items you need removed. Show the full piece plus where it is sitting in the room — a heavy dresser on a second floor is a different job from the same dresser at the curb.
Quote factors: number and size of items, weight and handling difficulty, floor level and staircase access, and whether you need items removed from a basement or awkward corner.

Where Furniture Goes After Pickup
When I haul furniture, I try to divert what can be reused. Items in good condition go to Winnipeg donation drop-offs or are offered for free pickup before they hit the landfill. Items that are damaged or stained get disposed of at the Brady Road facility as commercial waste.
All loads are covered and secured for transport as required by City of Winnipeg regulations — tarped and strapped so nothing shifts or falls on the road.
For other items alongside the furniture, see garage and basement cleanout if you have a full room to clear rather than just a few pieces.
Free Furniture Pickup vs. Paid Removal — What Is the Difference?
Good question. If your furniture is in good condition, free pickup is worth trying first:
- Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji: List it free. People come to you.
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Accepts some furniture donations for free pickup (call first — they are selective).
- Winnipeg bulk garbage / special pickup: The City offers bulky item collection on a schedule; this works for a single item but can take weeks.
When none of those work — the furniture is too damaged, the timeline is tight, or you have multiple pieces to move at once — that is where a junk removal service makes sense. I show up, load it, and it is gone.
See the guide Bulky Waste vs. Junk Removal in Winnipeg for a full breakdown of City options vs. hired hauling.

I don't do **electrical work** — not even light fixtures, outlets, or ceiling fans. I don't do **plumbing** — not even faucets, toilets, or dishwasher hookups. No **gas work**, no **HVAC**, and no **asbestos removal**. In Manitoba, those trades require a licence and there's no exemption for a handyman working on someone else's property. I'm happy to point you to the right licensed trade for any of those jobs. What a handyman can and cannot do in Manitoba →
